Developing a Powerful Vision

Send to Kindle

A vision is an ambition that you create in your mind and aspire for it and plan for it from start to the end. It is this vision that drives you forward and aims your life with a purpose to strive ahead. It gives the power to achieve your ambitions and also inspires people around you with your positive mindset and drive to move forward.

But, how does one plan on developing a powerful vision and inspire their lives and the lives of others under its influence?

Think Ahead and Plan

If you have the power to dream, you can plan your vision to meet your goals. Think of how you are and how you want your future to be. You can create a vision not only to bring in power and success to your career but it can also work for your relationships and other aspects of life. When you think ahead and plan in your mind, you can create a vision. Let it be very specific and not something that is very vaguely pictured.

Think Positive

To develop a powerful vision, you need to develop a positive mindset. Unless you think positive, the actions or planning cannot happen in a positive manner. So, it is very essential to have a positive thinking in order to move ahead. Without positive thinking, there is no vision. Without a vision, there is no goal achieved in life.

Use the Power of Affirmations

Positive thinking and affirmation with a belief in yourself is very important to develop powerful visions and carry it forward to attain success. You need to have motivation and it should be constant and there is nothing better than the power of affirmations to help you get all the motivation you need.

Set Goals

Based on your vision, it is essential to set goals both short term and long term. It is essential to visit these goals often and check how many of them you have been able to achieve. If you have been successful in attaining your goals, celebrate it and take credit for it. This will help you remain motivated. But, at the same time, if you have not been able to achieve some of these goals, it is best not to lose heart but to see why you have not been able to reach these goals and look at how to strive towards reaching them.

The vision that you have generated from your zeal to excel should not just remain a unfulfilled dream. Rather, it is in your hands to give it the proper shape and molding that it requires to make it grow and attain fruition. Otherwise, the vision has no value.

Self realization an important step in personal development

When you are trying to develop your personality, there are several things that you need to look at, but probably the most important thing is that you should have the correct realization about yourself. You should know who you are. It is only when you have a complete realization of yourself that you can plan to make improvements. Self realization an important step in personal development.

Each and every one of us has their own strengths and weaknesses. You have them too. You may be a very confident person, but at the same time, even if you don’t admit it openly, you surely have some shortcomings. If you are trying to develop your personality, the first thing is that you have to come out of this denial. Denial leaves no scope for improvement, because you become shortsighted about your weaknesses. Overcome the denial and accept to yourself what your limitations are. When you do that, it is as good as telling yourself that these are the aspects where you have to improve.

At the same time, you have to realize the things that you can do very well. There will certainly be a host of such things. And there will be one special talent at which you excel. This is the talent that defines your profession, or maybe your passion or your hobby. This is the one thing that you can pursue for your entire life, and keep becoming better at it. This is what you need for your professional, personal and creative growth, and it becomes the focus of your life. You may have a flair for writing, or maybe you can build website, or probably you are good at sales, or perhaps you can handle a truck very well. All these are special talents. Realize what talent you have and keep improving upon it.

Understand your personal limitations as well. Do people think of you as a good, friendly person? Do you have many friends? Is your spouse happy with you? Do you keep your children happy? Are you prone to temper outbursts? These are the things you should know, and work upon them. The main thing is that you should understand that you have follies in you and improve.

In conclusion, if you are looking for personal development, you have to have a pragmatic view of your faults and your talents. This tells you which direction you have to take your life into. Self realization  is an important step in personal development

Goals, plans and change

Everyday life can become more than just monotonous….it can become downright dull and beyond boring. The very things that we dislike doing, such as a dead-end job, laundry, yard work, can become the very things that hold us back from doing the things that have the power to enhance our lives.

Instead of letting our lives become stagnant pools of emptiness while we yearn for something more, a plan of action is needed. This plan should not be the answer itself, but rather a tool to be integrated into your life that can manifest a positive zest for life deep into your life that eventually becomes part of who you are.

This wonderful little tool needs to include a few very important items. First and foremost, it needs to be realistic. If it is set beyond reasoning, then you are setting yourself up for failure which is what we are trying to avoid. The plan needs to revolve around your inner most desires that are going to provide motivation for you to want to spring into action in order to achieve your goals. And, of course, the plan needs to include a set of goals.

A set of goals can be a short, or sometimes long, list of action items that need to be firmly established. The key here is to stick with these goals and not be deterred. When you stop actively pursuing your goals is when you fall back into that dull and monotonous routine of nothingness. So keep motivated and continue trying to meet each of those goals.

Setting your goals is often the easy part. It is the road that must be traveled in order to accomplish those goals that can be difficult. Set down some strict guidelines on what is required to meet that particular goal. Outline every single little step if that makes it easier. Once you can visual the action that you need to take, it will be easier to actually make yourself take that action.

Try not to become discouraged. Every day can bring new challenges and obstacles. Do not become overwhelmed that these obstacles are permanent. Remember, if there is a will – there is a way. If those obstructions cannot be removed from your life, then your life can find a way around them.

Stay focused on what you want. Distractions are great as stress relievers from time to time, but they cannot be allowed to be the main focus of your life. Remain consistent with the steps it will take to meet your goals and stay motivated. Keep your eyes on the prize, and the prize will be yours in the end.

Welcome change. Do not resist it when something in your life begins to change. Change can be uncomfortable for us because it jerks us out of our comfort zone and into uncharted territory. No one wants to fall and get hurt. However, if you do not try then you will never know how well you could succeed.

Strategy For Success

In the quest towards achieving success and accomplishment in our lives, a systematic plan of action is needed. Without a plan even the greatest of efforts will be ineffective, eventually degenerating into frustration and wasted time. A guided plan allows one to utilize his/her talents and competencies to the fullest, by focusing them in a coordinated and strategic manner upon a specific outcome.

The power of concentrated effort should never be underestimated. A strategy that one should immulate from the world of sports, is that in competition one should always seek to "play his/her game". One should never be forced into the position of trying to be successful by operating under conditions strategically benificial to the opposing team. In other words, in seeking to achieve success in today's competitive environment, a professional should design an action plan around his/her personal strengths and competencies. Play to your strengths and not to your weakness.

There is always more than one way to the mountain top; a striving professional should ensure that the path he/she chooses, is the one which utilizes his/her talents and skill sets to the fullest.

The acronym A.I.D.E can be used as a tool for the striving professional, in the drafting of a personal action plan. A.I.D.E stands for: Analyze, Identify, Design and Evaluate. A professional should first analyze his/her situation. What are one's professional aspirations and goals? What stage of his/her career is the professional currently in? What are the future prospects of current and prospective career paths? It is important to fully know the landscape before any journey can be undertaken. Before embarking upon the adventure of a lifetime one should take time to learn the terrain.

The next step in action planning is to identify those skill sets and core competencies one wishes to utilize. For example if a person possesses excellent analytical and mathematic skills one should seek opportunities which require these proficiencies, such as engineering or systems analyst. The identification stage involves much soul searching and should be undertaken in a deliberate and patient manner.

The design stage of the planning processes puts the "gears into the dream". The design phase is the actual creation of one's plan of action. During this period the professional determines the specific factors that will be utilized in the action plan:
 Activities
 Time Frames
 Outcomes
 Methods

The final stage of the A.I.D.E process is the evaluation phase. During the evaluation phase the striving professional reviews and monitors the progress that has been made. This stage of the action plan is very important, for it allows for the rethinking of strategies and the ability to capitalize upon immediate opportunity.

The courage to boldly go, to undiscovered realms of your potential should be rewarded with that which your heart desires. Ensure success by effectively planning for it. Your plan will work, if you work your plan.

Know What You Want and Make It Happen!

How is your life and/or your business doing? Is it stagnating, boring, going nowhere? Have you become obsessed with meeting those loan repayments or trying to just survive until the next fistful of money comes in? Are you having trouble maintaining your positive expectancy about life and/or business?

Too many of us are living this way and it has to change! The Government won't do it for us, nor will our family or friends. So what steps do we need to take to make life worth living and our businesses into exciting ventures?

The way to live satisfying lives is to simply dream up the things that we want to do and then make them happen. A simple statement but so few of us can put it into practice!

You can put it into practice if you take these steps NOW! First, find yourself a quiet, comfortable location where you will be free from disturbances. Ensure that you have paper and pen handy as you will need to write some things down.

Brainstorm Ideas

Now, let's do some brainstorming. For the next ten to fifteen minutes, write down all the things you'd like to do. A few rules for this exercise are in order. Don't evaluate as you write! For example, if you'd like to go overseas on holidays for twelve months - don't stop and think whether you can afford it. Just write it down. Evaluation can occur later. At this stage, write down all the things that you'd like to do assuming there was nothing that you couldn't do.

Prioritise Ideas

When you have finished brainstorming, you will have a list of the things you would like to do - and hopefully it will be a long list! Your next step is to review your list and sort it into priority order. Again, do not evaluate any of these items as to feasibility, etc. while you are ranking them. At the top of a fresh sheet of paper, write the thing you would like to do most. Underneath that, write what you'd next like to do most. Continue doing this until you have sorted your list into order of most wanted to least want to do. Also, put beside each one when you would like to do it by.

Take a short break before proceeding to the next step.

Evaluation

Now, look at the top three items on your list and ask yourself the question: "What is stopping me from doing these things? It will help to clarify things if you write down these reasons. For example, if your number one choice is to go overseas for twelve months, your reasons for not being able to do so could be:
+ can't afford it;
+ can't leave my business unattended; and
+ afraid I won't like it when I get there.

You've got to remember that you are looking at the three things you'd like to do most! So you're not going to let reasons like that stop you from doing them, are you? Now spend some time thinking about what you can do to overcome these reasons. Again, brainstorming without evaluation can help. Write down all the things that come to mind that could overcome these obstacles. You might write down things like:
+ sell the business;
+ cut back on personal expenditure to save the money so can afford it;
+ get more information about where I want to go;
+ hire a manager to run my business while I'm away;
+ sell the house and use proceeds to pay for the trip;
+ increase my business so that I make more money; etc., etc.

Once you have a list of solutions (no matter how silly some may be), you can then evaluate them. Remember, sometimes it is the modification or extension of a silly idea that holds the solution. From this evaluation process, form a plan of how you could do what you most want to do.

Do a Plan of Action

Your final step in this process is to put your plan into action - and do it now! Don't wait for a more opportune time - the best time is always NOW!

However, don't let your big plans stop you from doing some of your smaller plans now. Pick a couple of activities you can do within the next month that won't cost you money. DO THEM! You will feel like a different person for having done so.

Okay, but can you apply this process to your business? You surely can. Instead of asking yourself what you would like to do, instead ask what can you do that will make your business more attractive to your customers so they will do more business with you?

Again, use brainstorming to help you. Follow all the steps above and you will come up with some great ideas that will help you to revitalise your business. Also, don't forget that the best source of ideas is from your customers. Ask them what they want - then give it to them provided you can do so at a profit. If you can't do it at a profit, brainstorm ideas on how you can do it at a profit. Always aim for continuous and never-ending improvement in your service to your customers.

You will see the difference doing things can make to your life and business!

A Plan Of Action

Send to Kindle

You have finally made the decision that it is time to make some changes in your life. You know that the only way things are going to get better for you financially, spiritually and physically is if you sit up and take action. You know you have to put forth the effort in order to reap the rewards.

So how exactly are you going to implement these changes? You are going to have a "plan of action".

A plan of action is crucial to your success. Without a plan it is merely a thought. When you add your thoughts to paper coupled with a desire to see them become realities and proceed to do everything possible to fulfill that desire you have a template for success.

A simple equation to use when creating a plan of action from your template is: Desire + Effort = Results.

Your first step is to write down what exactly it is you desire. Albeit wealth, personal development or whatever you so strongly yearn for that you simply can no longer go without, write it down. Make your desires realistic. For example, if your desire is to lose 20 pounds, it is unrealistic to believe you can lose 20 pounds in 3 days. However, it is possible to lose 20 pounds in 3 months with a proper plan of action. It is important to note that there should be a time frame with regards to your plan. These time frames are the milestones to marking your achievements.

Now that you know what your specific desire is, list the ways in which you plan on achieving optimum results. How do I plan to lose these 20 pounds? What do I have to do each day in order to achieve my goal? What do I personally need to do to see this plan come to fruition?

Set up a schedule outlining each step that needs to be taken daily to achieve weekly goals. Be specific. Create a daily "to do" list. At the end of the week you will be able to see how much you were able to accomplish. Congratulate yourself for each accomplishment.

Make a commitment to yourself to "Work the Plan". Stay focused on the positive. List all the reasons why you will be able to achieve your objective. Utilize the strengths you possess that will help you to complete your plan.

Know your weaknesses and make a concerted effort to overcome them. Incorporate both your strengths and weakness into your plan of action. Know what you are capable of and know what your shortcomings are.

Have your own personal reward system in place. Know what each reward will be for each accomplishment that you have fulfilled throughout your plan. With every desired result you achieve there should be a reward for having done so. An incentive plan customized to your wants.

Do not let yourself get disheartened. If you have a temporary lapse or deviation from the plan acknowledge it and continue to move forward with your plan. Keep the pedal to the metal or your nose to the grindstone, just keep on taking action. Remember, this is not a race to the finish line. Your plan is your future. Take the time to nurture and understand it.

We've all heard the adage "Rome was not built in a day". Your success regarding your plan of action will not be achieved in one day either. Success is a process and the process is something you have a long-term plan for.

"You and only you can determine if the reward is worth the price you are paying for it in effort".

Developing a new you

Personal development planning aims to determine a person’s weaknesses and strengths and to create a strategy that will develop and boost one’s existing abilities and skills; or more specifically, to lessen the negative side and to promote the positive ones.

Personal development planning can help you achieve happiness in your life!

Just like in any development process, it consists of step-by-step procedures that need to be taken one step at a time. It has no ending. It doesn’t stop upon reaching one goal; rather, it continues as long as you yearn for it and you see the need for such. Some individuals tend to consider self-development only when situations require them to do so. But the worse thing is that some do not even consider the thought of promoting self-growth within themselves.

On the other hand, there are still a lot of people who include personal development planning as a factor to achieving happiness in life. It can be one’s acquisition of knowledge and new skills due to work or hobby or simply just because a person wants something different for himself.

A good plan for self development can give one enough time to reflect on many different things about oneself. It is a mere evaluation of what you are, what you have and what you do, but it can extend its abilities into determining what you can be, what you may have and what more you can do. The areas that a plan should be able to touch on should include establishing facts about your attitude, capabilities, skills, and strengths. Generally, it can provide you a holistic view of your being, including your weaknesses and specific areas that you need to work on.

Personal development planning can greatly help your career as well by indicating work-related areas that need to be improved on. Such planning can give a seemingly-understandable picture of your career situation for the next 5 to 10 years. Knowing all these things can help out in your future decisions.

Personal development planning can go a long ways to boosting your self-esteem!

Increasing one’s self-esteem is another positive aspect that gears to solving personality crises. If you seem to be at a loss, then all the more should you take some time to set your goals once again to direct your life the way you want it.  As it would require you to do a lot of thinking to make your decisions, it is also a good way to enhance your decision-making abilities. This is a vital part of personal development planning since this is determinant of what you have gained from all the new skills and knowledge during the course. It is during this time that a person can balance his life after acquiring knowledge and being able to make appropriate decisions. This is evident, for instance, in a person who has a family and is able to devote his time well for his work, children and partner while still having time for himself.

It is quite interesting to see how self-growth can make way for people to appreciate each aspect of their lives. After all, personal development planning is all about positive outcomes and not liabilities.

Things happen! But unless you consciously plan, change may not to your liking. To change your life in a way that is conducive to your desires takes time. There are no quick fixes or short cuts.

The most fundamental thing to do is to think about where you are now and where you want to be in say 1 or 5 years. Be ambitious by all means but be realistic in your goals. The more you plan to change your life the more realistic those plans become.

Changing your life is not a random event. It is a planned event. Even small changes need to be orchestrated. And that means that you need to plan to change your life.

When I look back over my adult life I can see distinct phases of change. But the most successful periods of change in my life has been were I have meticulously planned for it. Where I have set out a goal, written down the things I needed to do to reach it and the time frame and then implemented them.

In short, if you want to change your life, you need to plan for change. What are you waiting for?
